EON Reality Market Size

0. General

Please order this old document as a ref: http://www.cyberedge.com/mkt_r_vr.html

1. IPCM Market estimated to exceed 5 Billions

EON is the Innovative Leader in the disruptive IPCM market that reuses existing CAD assets developed for product design in the area of sales, marketing and support.
The CAD Market size is described in the attachment http://www.jonpeddie.com/special/CAD.shtml
In the JPR Special Report they estimate the CAD market has an installed base of 20 million users. Many of those users are using AutoCAD and most are still working in 2D. Autodesk says there are about 3.5 million registered users, but the company estimates that there are many more illegal users. There are considerably more people using desktop CAD products like AutoCAD than there are people using EDS products which include Unigraphics and Solid Edge and the number of people using Dassault's products, which includes Catia, Enovia, and SolidWorks. However, when looked at by revenue, these companies, with their higher priced products have more market share.

IPCM has by definition 5-10 times larger potential users than the CAD market (as there are 10 times more people in sales & training, MRO & support vs design where CAD is used today, this is valid for most com). For example Suzuki has less than 200 designers that use CAD but have over 8000 dealers world wide. Thus the IPCM market has potentially 100- 200 million users. Assuming that each end user pays $500 USD for an IPCM solution, than the market is:

100,000,000 million potential users * $500 = 50 Billion. If we assume that only 10% will become IPCM users over the next 5 years still the IPCM markets exceeds 5 Billions.

2. Augmented TelePresence Market estimated to 3 Billions

New technologies are allowing people to move away from purely physical
communication to “augmented/mixed” reality communication and interaction. Augmented Tele-Presence is the real-time display of 3D information and images that assists and enhances collaboration and interaction. Enhanced visualization will become ubiquitous, as it will provide added contextual
information to functions like communication, product development and R&D, and medical imaging. Augmented Tele-Presence will allow users to reduce travel costs, enhance presentations, enable hands-on experience and customization of products, and provide contextually relevant information.

Eon ATP market can be divided in several parts:

a. ATP for telepresence estimated to 1 Billion
Here EON augments video conferencing with real-time 3D interactive data that the participants can work with. This is EON unique as the participants can Hold a Virtual product in their hands at the same time as they see each other over distance.

Sales of video telepresence solutions have been increased by the recent entry into the market of larger vendors like HP in December 2005, and Polycom in May 2006 and now Cisco. Cisco's new TelePresence product line will also compete against offerings from Destiny Conferencing, Teliris, Telanetix and Digital Video Enterprises. These solutions have expanded awareness of telepresence's potential to reduce business travel — a goal that proved elusive for traditional videoconferencing. Gartner http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?doc_cd=144493

In an interview June 21, 2006 John Chambers Predicted That Telepresence Will Be A Multi-Billion Dollar Product Line for Cisco http://www.humanproductivitylab.com/archive_blogs/2006/06/21/post_1.php
Cisco also bought Webex this month. The deal gives video conferencing expertise to Cisco and will help power the networking giant's effort in so-called telepresence. http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/newsanalysis/techstockupdate/10344632.html
If you combine these players the market that they opened for ATP for telepresence with real-time 3D interactive data will likely exceed 1 BUSD

b. ATP for Ultra mobile Devices estimated to 2 Billion
Background: Augmented reality with new Ultra mobile devices (Intel, Samsung & Sony launches the ultra mobile devices April 17 2007 plans to sell 10 million units ($500/unit) and they see EON as a HOT button application http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/02/06/intel_umpc/ see below) or virtual glass displays overlaying and augmenting the real world to provide real time guidance and explanation. Superimposed context relevant 3d data & Real-time position/orientation input and RFID labels see http://www.idtechex.com/products/en/articles/00000169.asp The RFID market to reach $7.26Bn in 2008
Initially Tablet PC & ultra mobile devices connected later versions with 3D glasses. Provides capability to enhance reality with context relevant data for example see through “Superman vision” by superimposing a video image with a 3d model of the same environment that contains additional hidden information accessible from RFID (links virtual with physical world).

Target Use: Interactive Context relevant Games, Industrial / Aerospace Installation & Support Assisting difficult tasks (e.g., the system could "label" the parts of a system in order to facilitate the mechanic's work) Tourism, location based Information & Cultural Heritage Enhanced sightseeing : labels or any text related to the objects/places seen, rebuilt ruins, building or even landscape as seen in the past. Combined with a wireless network the amount of data displayed is limitless (encyclopedic articles, news, etc...).
Construction & Infrastructure - Interactive three-dimensional buildings/maps that could be collaboratively modified and analyzed (e.g., for prospecting)
Medical -Visualization of hidden features (e.g., a doctor could "see" the fetus inside the mother's womb)
Teleconferencing with both real and virtual participants
Entertainment (allowing computer-generated imagery to interact with live entertainers)
Here is a Summary from the Intel discussion about their new device.
1. launch an ultra mobile device for $500 USD
2. About the unit it a 4” – 8” screen and weighs around 300g.
3. It’s a full PC.
4. Always connected wirelessly.
5. It is ultra mobile meaning that it is very small and it is also location adapted meaning that it is GPS tracked
6. Built in 6DOF tracker
By 2010 they want to sell 10 million units. They are looking for a killer application and they offered to preinstall EON Human on their device (1 to USD/device plus additional user revenues = 20 MUSD)

If you combine these players the market that they opened for ATP for Ultra mobile Devices with real-time 3D interactive data 10 million users * $500 = 5 billion.
Assuming the ATP software component revenue (upfront and reoccurring 40% of the hardware cost) the market will likely exceed 2 BUSD

Rich Media Publishing Market (RMP) estimated to exceed 5 Billions

Rich Media Publishing presents a significant growth opportunity for EON. Players as IBM, IBM, Google & Microsoft have indicated that “a 3D internet” will be a critical
element of Web 3.0.

EON has recently secured a 5 MUSD project funded by EDB http://www.edb.gov.sg/edb/sg/en_uk/index.html to develop EonExperience “EonEx” the World’s Largest Online Interactive 3D Experience Streaming Service & 3D. The EonExperience is an online Interactive 3D Experience streaming service & library that allows users to experience and share 3D Experience content that have been uploaded by content providers, companies, academic institutions or members. http://www.eonreality.com/news/newsletter/newsletter0703.html
This is a part of EDB’s S$500 million investment to develop this digital media industry: http://www.edb.gov.sg/edb/sg/en_uk/index/news_room/news/2005/edb_will_earmark_s.html EonExperience will be be launched in late 2007/2008 and aims at becoming the World’s Largest Online Interactive 3D Experience Streaming Service & 3D Library that is Searchable, Interactive and contains High Quality 3D experiences., see separate PP for an overview

IBM is in discussions with EON to collaborate in what IBM refers to as "a 3D Internet" of virtual worlds used by businesses and consumers.
IBM CEO, Sam Palmisano, recently gave an address to 7,000 Chinese workers through a 3D on forum. IBM spokesman explained that Big Blue ultimate goal is to create an environment where users can seamlessly navigate between 3D worlds of commercial areas, government and educational sites, "IBM hopes to help drive and build out the next generation Internet," said the spokesman. "One that is open, immersive and 3D." In October 2006, arising from their "Innovation Jam" sessions held earlier in the year, IBM committed to an investment of $100M in immersive 3D environments.

As a part of Microsoft Release of Virtual Earth 3D Microsoft plans to expand to 5,000 major 3D cities worldwide Microsoft will integrate this with the online outlets to allow someone to sit at their computer at home, and enjoy a walk down the Las Vegas strip, then fly over to the shopping district, wander into a retail outlet, and purchase a the latest electronic gadget: See, Try Buy- all without ever having left their chair, The EonExperiency library will enable Fast roll and NEW product catalogue creation

Western World MMOG (massively multiplayer online games) Market: 2006 Review and Forecasts to 2011 http://www.screendigest.com/reports/07westworldmmog/readmore/view.html
Screen Digest has found that the market value for massively multiplayer online games in the West hit $1bn for the first time in 2006. While subscription services continue to dominate in the West, accounting for 87% of the market, virtual item sales and 3d advertising (this is what EonExperience will provide content & technologies for) have also made their mark during the year. The growing impact of these new business models is symptomatic of the increasing influence of traditional MMOGs on other online platforms and games sectors, such as social networking sites and casual online games. Both of these sectors are now broadly adopting many MMOG-like strategies and characteristics.

Assuming the RMP software component revenue this may be EON’s largest potential future market and will likely exceed 5 BUSD

Location Based Experience Centers (EDC) and Edutainment Solutions exceed 1 Billion

The video game industry is fueling and setting the 3D expectations with new technologies for Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360
As an extension of location-based display solutions (for example, kiosks at trade shows or rides at amusement parks), the market for more advanced, immersive 3D experiences
in education and discovery will grow. EDC requires EONs unique Immersive software solution and the integration of hardware and services to create next-generation 3D environments that will enhance learning and entertainment experiences. The Company’s existing unique software and experience in executing large-scale integration projects put it at the forefront of the EDC market. EON software and its holographic and large immersive displays will let participants visit different places, times, and people while interacting with their 3D environment in real
time.

EON has signed the creation of the Immersive for a new EON Experience and Discovery Center, a 100,000 square feet facility planned in Arizona http://www.eonreality.com/news/events/2007/EONSeminarFeb07.html
http://www.eonreality.com/news/events/2007/idcJan07.htm
Initial contract is for a pilot consists of the Virtual Reality design of the upcoming EDC attraction; the total EON EDC project is estimated to 13 MUSD/location. EON has at the moment over 10 prospects and several concrete RFP for EDCs including in Dubai (20 MUSD RFP), Singapore, UK, Canada etc

The War of The Worlds – EON brings Richard Burton to Life
EON has signed an agreement with The War of the World Musical create a new Richard Burton head with 3D CGI photo-real holographic imagery - aiming to take the replication even further than last year's tour and to set the bar for all theatrical technology in the future. The story is also set to be unveiled in a new way for audiences in 2007. Journalist (Richard Burton) will be able to 'interact' with the real-time cast on stage more authentically, and other new extraordinary live effects will also come into play this year
http://www.eonreality.com/news/news_releases/2007/press_releases_070320.html

This is why I believe that EON has a great chance to redefine Location Based Entertainment & Edutainment with the EDC’s new VR experience focused approach:
- The customer demand is clear and strong, people crave experiences & lack today a physical location based experience that matches their expectations ( video games have set the expectations)
- Retailers, malls etc need a customer pulling attraction that resonates with the existing demand
- Amusement parks like Disney make tons of money and are scouting for new 3D applications http://images.businessweek.com/ss/07/03/0322_motion_capture/index_01.htm

The market for 3D stereoscopic theater and Location Based Experiences is growing fast:
- DreamWorks Animation announced today its intention to produce all of its films in stereoscopic 3D technology starting in 2009. "I believe that this is the greatest opportunity for movies and for the theatrical exhibition business that has come along in 30 years," said Jeffrey Katzenberg, Chief Executive Officer of DreamWorks Animation. The growth in the number of theaters capable of projecting 3D films has dramatically risen in the past two years. It is expected by 2009 that there will be several thousand screens equipped for 3D. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=19321
- Motion-capture technology (this is a small part of EON’s market has burst out of Hollywood and into businesses from aerospace to advertising interesting article about VR 2.0 in BusinessWeek this week http://www.businessweek.com/
- Disney Digital 3-D is a brand used by the The Walt Disney Company to describe digitally animated three-dimensional films shown exclusively using digital projection. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Digital_3-D
- James Cameron on the Cutting Edge: The director of Terminator and Titanic explains how movies will be transformed by motion-tracking and 3D technology “I can visualize a number of uses for the technique in advanced forms of entertainment, at theme parks and so on”http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_14/b4028005.htm

Assuming the EDC software component revenue this may be a EON’s large potential future market and will likely exceed 1 BUSD
